This summer I took my family camping for our first time camping as a family. My wife had refused to even think about camping but when she expressed interest I jumped on it and planned a whole weekend and some campground with toilets and showers.
It was such a resounding success that this year Santa is bringing the family a brand new !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

So what you are saying, is that in order to please your wife you need to pitch a bigger tent?
:D

Yeah, two smaller ones didn’t work so we’ll try one really big one.

I looked at that tent when I was shopping, its a nice one. I ended up getting a small springbar for Christmas from my folks that we traded up to a traveler 5. Man I love that tent.

BTW - Stoked that the family campout worked out for you. My best memories as a kid are my family camping trip and now as an adult my own family camping trips...though I have yet to tent camp with the whole family as there is no need with the trailer.

Yeah I’ve done tons of camping. My wife was anti-camping from the get go so our daughter is 12 and been camping twice now counting the one time we went.
I think this tent will see whether we upgrade to a pop up trailer.

That’s good to hear. It looks nice and you can’t beat the deal.

Oh man, I love tent camping and all, but with a family a pop up is so the way to go. You still get all the same kinds of feelings of tent camping but it makes life on the misses so much easier that she goes from a skeptic to a fan. I mean, my wife and I camped a lot before kids together in small and large tents but having the trailer reignited a spark for her to REALLY get back into it. We already have 3 trips planned this summer and half the kids Christmas is camping themed.

I’m pretty pumped to get some more camping in next year.

I’ve seen these on our annual camping trip over the summer, people seem to love them.
Haven’t used our tent in years, we normally steal my in-law’s giant Camper and sleep in our mobile hotel suite.

Vestibules, KEY for good enjoyable camping.

What about a vestibule makes camping better?

Haha, yep. It’s really nice. 2 queen size beds in it, full kitchen, bath with shower and nice indoor/outdoor speakers. Down side is that it ways about 5,000 pounds completely empty, so you need a capable truck. we don’t use the bathrooms, we use the campgrounds bathrooms because then we don’t have to clean the camper out. It’s an entirely volunteer run event, and we’re on the volunteer group who cleans the bathroom (don’t worry we get lots of free drinks for our generous support, even when people know volunteers are cleaning the bathrooms they still are disgusting) so we don’t want to clean another bathroom.

Damn, now that's a tent. Hell, when I was a kid and we used to go camping, our first tent was little bigger than a tarp. We too graduated to a second hand pop-up, which my dad and I had some awesome memories in. Including when the roof fell in on us while camping because the cables snapped. lol

Go big or go home I guess.

keeps the muck out of the tent. (If you force everyone to take their shoes off out there)

We downgraded (thank GOD) from a 14 person nightmare to put up & take down tent to a 6 person (for the 4 of us) with vestibule not unlike what you pictured here.
I’m still trying to get used to Hammock camping. Super quick and easy setup and tear down but I haven’t gotten a complete nights sleep in one yet. I just keep waking up for some reason.

It is a place to store you things out of the weather (minus food).
It’s a place where you can keep your boots dry, and not muddy your tent.
It helps keep the bugs out (not spiders, they love them)
Basically it’s like having a porch on your tent, and it gives you a place to keep things, and to get into/out of your tent without immediately being in the sun/rain/mosquitoes/horseflies/grizzlies.
